The Power of Words

The Power of Words

Who was the architect of creation? The Father. His vision, His picture of what creation should be was His design. It was His will and purpose that He held within Him. That picture remained there until…He spoke.

Genesis:1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. 2 Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters.

3 And God said…

6 And God said…

9 And God said…

11 Then God said…

14 And God said…

20 And God said…

24 And God said…

26 Then God said, “Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness”… (NIV)

God Created With Words

He spoke the picture, the blueprint of his design, the framework of his will. These words were the containers of His will and understanding. His Spirit took the contents of His words and brought into being creation according to the instructions contained in His words.

As we see over and over again in the verses of creations , “Add then God said.” Nothing happened until God said. Then Finally we see that God said “let us make man in our image.”  He gave man authority and made man to operate as He operates.

Man Functions Like God

To get to the point, nothing happened until Adam spoke. Man’s authority only operates when he speaks just like God’s authority is released only when He speaks.

We are made in His image yet somehow we think we operate differently. We do not; we are created to operate just as he does. We speak our will and those words will affect our lives. Whether we are aware of it or not aware of it, every word we have spoken has formed our life.

Now maybe you are like me. “You mean I have to guard every word out of my mouth!” What a burden. Feels like a bondage. Well I have good news.

Luke 6:45 A good man brings good things out of the good stored up in his heart, and an evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in his heart. For the mouth speaks what the heart is full of. (NIV)

The Threefold Return

Initially, I watch my words. I speak good words. I speak verses of God’s word over my life. These are the words of God’s will for your life. When these words are spoken the Spirit of God takes these words and actually, you get a threefold return.

  1. The Spirit takes these words and builds these pictures in your spirit and creates an abundance in your heart.
  2. The Spirit takes these words and renews your mind and gives you revelation knowledge (supernatural understanding and knowing.)
  3. The Spirit takes these words and forms your life.

Once I start to build up an abundance in my heart the word automatically comes out of my mouth and these words further build up an abundance in my heart. So the abundance builds up my words and my words build up my abundance.

The cycle begins and feeds on itself and the abundance in my heart rapidly multiplies. Which multiplies revelation knowledge and ever increases the renewing of my mind.

While this is going on my words grow and grow in power. This is all by His design. We were made to succeed. This cycle of words creating an abundance while the abundance is creating our words is one way to enter into His rest.

A Plan of Action

Ok great. Nice theory. But how do I do this? How do I make this work in my life? Well, I’ll give you an example out of my own life. First 3 simple steps.

Step 1. Determine your need or desire.

Step 2. Go to God’s word and find the verse (I do mean the verse) that applies to you. If you don’t know verses that apply to your desire or need then go to any online or digital bible and do a search.

Now, this is critical. You must find the one verse that Jesus has for you at this time for this circumstance or desire. As you go through the list of verses that may apply, read through them.

When the Spirit rises in you or witnesses to you while you read a verse, that is the verse He wants you to speak. Better yet, if you already have a lot of His word in you then one verse will come up out of your spirit. Use that verse.

Step 3. Get revelation. Read that verse over and over. Speak it over and over. This is to get revelation. Get revelation out of every part of the verse and revelation will come. Once you get revelation it will become a joy to speak out this word. You won’t have to speak it out. You will want to speak it out.

As I write this Jesus is dealing with me and he is not holding anything back. It seems everything is going either extremely right or extremely wrong and everything is changing in and outside of me all at once. So yes I have a need. I needed something to hold on to and to give me a firm footing.

A Personal Example

So this is the verse that came out of my spirit:

Romans 8:28 And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. (NIV)

So now I have the specific word the Lord gave me. I don’t need to add any more to this. I need to focus this verse on my life.

Next I need to get revelation out of this verse. First all things will work for my good. Good, bad, or things I don’t understand or even know about. Who does this? God does this. For someone like me who loves him? Yes, for He loved me first and that is the love I love Him with.

Called to my purpose? No, called to His purpose. His purpose has framed my life and He is faithful to fulfill that purpose by working in all things for my good.

So now I speak this verse out in freedom, joy, and in confidence in His faithfulness.

But how do I effectively speak out this verse?

I can speak the verse out verbatim as in the Word.

And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.

I make this word personal to me

And I know that in all things God works for my good, for I love him, and I have been called according to his purpose.

I can make this intimate with Jesus.

Jesus I love you with the love you loved me with and I thank you that you work all things together for my good and you will faithfully fulfill your purpose in my life.

I speak this out when things are going wrong and even more importantly when things are going right. So I always remember it is Him and not me who causes every good thing.

Your prayers should also be affected by the abundance of this word in your heart:

“Jesus I so love you and I am grateful for the goodness you have brought in my life. Your faithfulness in fulfilling your purpose with my life has given me a great peace and contentment. I am so thankful and humbled that you would even use me and orchestrate you purpose in me. Jesus I trust you and I love you.”

So operate like your Father. You are His offspring. Speak forth his will in your life. Find a verse for your need or desire. Get revelation and speak it out personalized or intimately with Jesus. Let the abundance of your heart be multiplied and speak forth your life.

  4. Thank you for sharing what God has placed in your heart concerning His truths. A very good word. Many times we forget just how powerful our words truly are. Because we fail to realize that God Himself lives in us the creator of everything. Therefore we have the same ability to create with our words for good or bad. Thank you for reminding us.
